"Whatever you are, be a good one." —Abraham Lincoln
Hi! My name is Nichole Chaney. I use the above quote to have courage, to be thoughtful and bold in making impact through creativity. I am an experienced communications designer that wanted to do more with design than make things look aesthetically pleasing. I believe that designers are first and foremost problem solvers, from simpler problems of clear and effective communication on a product, to complex societal problems such as creating tools for people with dementia and racial justice.
During the time that I was earning my Master’s Degree in Design from DAAP (Design, Architecture and Planning) at the University of Cincinnati, I learned how to apply Design methodologies to research, code and visualize quantitative and qualitative data. Human-centered-design and co-participation is at the core of my design solutions, involving people that are at the heart of the problem and whom the solution will affect the most. Data collection is used to inform next steps and decision making in working towards a solution.
With my past experience in communication design and my expertise in design research, I have the capabilities to research and gather data, and to execute solutions. Most recently, in the form of user experience / user interface design to create applications, but also in working with non-profits and organizations to advance racial equity.
